Charles Korede Ayo was born on 31 October 1958. He displayed exceptional academic prowess from an early age. In 1984, he graduated as the best student in Computer Science from Ahmadu Bello University. He further pursued academic excellence, earning a Ph.D. in Numerical Computation from the University of Ilorin.

Before his tenure as Vice-Chancellor at Covenant University, Ayo held the position of the head of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences. His academic pursuits focused on critical areas of computer and communications, including electronic commerce and mobile computing.
